There's a first for everything.

For the first time in my life, I'm actually proud to be American. We've just elected our first African American President. We've elected an intelligent, articulate man who has the ability to be a true world leader. Ever since I became aware of politics it's been nothing but shameful. I've been told, in a roundabout sort of way, that there was no way any sort of grassroots effort could pay off. Well, I guess "they" where wrong.

Wow, it took me way to long to update this thing.

It's time to get involved, to get ready for the long haul. We've taken the first steps in a long journey of recovery, but we must remember, first and foremost, that change begins within ourselves. So I urge every one, including myself, (especially myself) to find a charity, to write letters, protest, do anything, as long as it accomplishes something. We have the ability to change the world, but to do so, we must first be courageous and put ourselves in uncomfortable positions. Be it standing on a soapbox on a corner, shouting your beliefs at the top of your lungs, or giving people the skills they need to survive, passing out canned food. We must remember that we are all in this together, and nothing will get better until we start working together for a better life.

I'm sorry if this seems a little scattered, I've only just had my first latte.
Much love!

Her Maiden Voyage

Welcome to the beginning of what may or may not turn into a regularly updated public diary. I had a plan when I originally started this blog. I think I wanted to talk about things important to me that aren't normally discussed in a diverse but supportive (and let me stress supportive) environment. I'll be writing about my observations in history, art, culture, religion (which is part of culture, silly Audra) and maybe even politics. I want people to feel free to comment and debate to their hearts content. Also, I am a huge fan of learning new things. If you find something interesting, don't hesitate to post.

Also, there may be some pictures to post as well. Maybe.

Can't really think of anything else to add right now so. this is Audra, signing off!
